Cognos VISUALIZER

Cognos Visualizer uses powerful visual reports (“visualizations”) to communicate complex business data quickly and intuitively. For example, users can visually explore regional product sales metrics using a map. By going beyond simple pie or bar graphs, users immediately see what areas are below quota or exceeding it. Cognos Visualizer displays multiple, diverse metrics on a single Dashboard. These visual dashboards allow users to view several reports at once and understand the interrelationships between key metrics and manage the performance of their business. Cognos Visualizer leverages existing BI data sources (Excel spreadsheets, dBase files, flat files, Cognos PowerPlay multidimensional data, and most relational databases) to populate visualizations. Users then have the ability to drill through to detailed reports in Impromptu, Cognos Query or PowerPlay.

VISUALIZER INTRODUCTION
1-DAY COURSE

The course objective is for participants to learn to develop visualizations that answer the questions: When? Where? What? Who? Participants will create and deploy visualizations. A number of scenarios will be presented to illustrate how Visualizer can be used to support the decision making process. Approximately 40 percent of the classroom time will be spent solving problems in a demonstration or workshop environment, 10 percent of the time will be spent in discussions, and 50 percent of the time will be lectures using white board and PowerPoint presentations. Emphasis will be given to interaction between the participants and the trainer. Demonstrations and workshops will build upon each other, with the end result being a complete scorecard with multiple charts and multiple scenes.
