Cognos Data Manager
ETL software that delivers an integrated reporting data foundation
for the enterprise. Cognos Data Manager is powerful ETL (Extraction,
Transformation, and Load) software that lets you extract and unite
data from disparate sources and deliver coordinated Business Intelligence
across your organization. Cognos Data Manager’s advanced data
merging, aggregation and transformation capabilities let you unite
data from different sources, and transform it into information
using best-practices dimensional design. Cognos Cognos Data Manager
is comprised of a Windows-based dimensional design environment,
and a multi-platform, server-based ETL engine with native support
for all major relational databases. The design environment’s
intuitive graphical interface makes defining and implementing
transformation processes easy, while the high-performance transformation
engine processes large volumes of data quickly. Cognos Data Manager’s
generation of Business Intelligence metadata, and tight integration
with Cognos Business Intelligence components, delivers the fastest
route to Business Intelligence implementations.

Cognos Data Manager FOR DATA WAREHOUSE DEVELOPERS
5-DAY COURSE WITH WORKSHOPS
This five-day course will teach users how to move, merge, consolidate,
and transform data from a range of data sources to build and maintain
subject-area data marts. Cognos Data Manager data mart targets include
all the major relational databases and are typically designed
to create best practices dimensional data mart solutions (star
schema). Specifically, the course deals with the Dimensional Framework,
builds, and templates. The Dimensional Framework is a repository
for reference structures (dimensions, hierarchies, lookups, and
dimension templates) that promotes the reuse of these structures.
Builds are units of work that progress through the steps of data
acquisition, transformation, and delivery. Templates are objects
that define source and target attributes for dimension data.
